The Employment Readiness Program (ERP) provides information and referral services on employment, education, training, transition, and volunteer opportunities to give Family members the competitive edge needed to secure meaningful employment.
The primary purpose of the ERP is to assist eligible Family members who are relocating as a result of a military or civilian sponsor's permanent change of station. ERP provides accurate, timely information and other supportive services necessary to minimize the employment problems associated with such moves.
ERP works closely with the Human Resources Office (HRO), other on - and off-post agencies, and Army Career and Alumni Program (ACAP) representatives to provide a full range of employment-related services and assistance to Family members in their job searches and career development.

Active duty service members, civilian employees, spouses, retirees, surviving spouses, and Family members (to include youth) are eligible to use these services. Employment in Stuttgart comes in many shapes and sizes. Although Stuttgart hosts many senior commands, it is essentially a small installation compared with many stateside garrisons. Stuttgart is unique for the following reasons:
- 1) Spouses and Family members are very well educated and often have outstanding credentials and job experience.
- 2) There is an ever increasing amount of US companies that offer contract jobs that cover the entire spectrum of jobs offered by government services, from administration, office management, budget, accounting, logistic, supply, mechanics, electricians, data management, computer hard ware and software, intelligence analysis and all the typical technical communication, computer programmer positions.
- 3) Jobs can be found on the economy, but it takes patience and good networking skills to find them.
- 4) No one web site lists all the available US Government jobs, nor is there any one central location where the 30 or more US companies advertise openings or recruit employees. In fact, some of the large companies have more than one web site where jobs can be located here in Germany.
The ACS ERP helps unwind this employment maze by centralizing all the web sites, job banks, resume applications procedures and off-post jobs into a one stop shopping experience.
